New To Winterization

36 foot Salem FLBK.... anyone know where the water pump is. going to the campsite to Winterize this weekend, and none of the manuals that came with the recently purchased camper, tells me this. any other advise on winterizing is also welcome.

I'm not familiar with your camper but, normally, it's located underneath the mattress. (In it's own compartment or easily accessible from underneath in a storage place.)

And easy way to find it is to turn on your water pump and run a faucet...and let your ears guide you!

With my old camper, the BEST thing I ever did was install a winterization kit...made the job super easy.

Here's what a typical water pump looks like:

Here's what the winterizing bypass kit does...you just put the valve on the line that comes from out outside water input...when you switch the valve, it pulls from the tube that you have inside the antifreeze jug to fill the lines/faucets with antifreeze.

I just finished winterizing my 2014 Rockwood 8329 TT. The water pump was behind a screwed shut door under the bathroom sink. Also under there was a bypass valve that allows you to pump RV antifreeze into the water system without filling the 30 gallon fresh water tank.

Also I found out from Forest River people that all Forest River RVs (at least newer ones) have built in bypass valves for the hot water heater. You don't want to leave antifreeze in your hot water heater.
On the 8329 access to the hot water heater is located in a cabinet under the main cabin sink.

Chfan558, put some water in your freshwater tank and turn on the pump. You'll discover where it is pretty quickly. It may be behind a screwed on panel that you have to remove to access the pump. If you don't have an antifreeze inlet on the outside of your Salem, the bypass kit is a must have addition.

Why would this be an issue? In the past, I've drained my HWH, blow out all the lines, then pump a little AF into the HWH, then pull the anode rod (a little AF spills out,) then flip the bypass valves and pump AF to the rest of the trailer. Is there a specific reason you shouldn't have AF in the HWH, other than the cost of the AF? Again, I don't fill it, just leave a little siting in the bottom of the HWH to keep any residual water in there from freezing.

The little water that is left in t,here has plenty of room to expand if it freezes plus cooked antifreeze is bad for the unit.
