newbie looking for info on how you store equipment for black tank

Hello.
Just curious where you keep the hose and connectors used to flush out and clean the black tank.
We are having a discussion on where to store them and whether or not we should bleach the connector between uses and I wondered what others do.
Any input or ideas is always appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I keep them in their own container with a snap on lid. We clean them occasionally, but not after every use.
If you have a black tank flush on your camper there is a one way inline valve on it to prevent backflow.

Stinky slinky goes in the rear bumper of my TT and the various connectors go into a large zip lock baggy then into a container with a lid along with the black rinse house.

Note: nice to have this to help pull out the hose from the bumper.

5" vinyl fence post for storing the hose and fittings. Flush hose is just stored in the little bag it came in (its one of the expanding ones) kept in a passthrough since there is backflow protection.

I don't "clean" the sewer hose or fittings, but I do make sure I have plenty in the gray tank to flush it well with the semi-soapy water in it. Then I run the tank flush. Then once I disconnect from the trailer I run water from the flush hose through the sewer hose into the drain. Then I disconnect it all and stow it.

Just wear gloves and don't touch your face/body

My hose goes in the hollow rear bumper on the TT. I keep the fittings in a plastic bag after washing them. The one fitting that is especially helpful is the clear plastic addition that is attached to the exit valve. The clear plastic lets me know when the "output" is clear fluid. Another help with the black tank is that I re-load it with a solution of Calgon and Dove soap. This really helps keep the black tank clean. Also limit the amount of paper that goes into the black tank.

Welcome to the forum.

We too have a snap tight lid container where the elbows / fittings / gloves and flush hose are kept. The 2 actual drain hoses are kept in the RV bumper, with the magnetic ends like were posted a few post above.

I have flushed the sewer hoses a few times every season when I get home and also run the tank flush again. I live in a very rural area (with lagoons) and will run the tank flush about once a month into 5 gallon buckets at home, and dump in the lagoon. Then rinse the hoses.

Hoses in bumper. Connector in Harbor Freight 50cal. Ammo box $10 attached to rear bumper. Box of latex gloves fit inside too. Drilled a few extra holes for drainage and air. No bees or wasps yet.

little plastic tub with snap on lid for fittings, that goes in outer compartment with flush hoses, and Camco Sidewinder hose support. Hose goes in tube mounted to underbelly. If fitting aren't completely dry when I store them, I try to remember to open the tub at home and let sunlight on them.

bradandsusi, I opted to add the 5" PVC fence post to my rear bumper and added an 8' section of rain gutter as a tray. All the parts and hoses go in there. I used to keep my hose and a couple of fittings in the bumper on my old RV, but the bumper rusted and cut the hose several times(nothing like finding a pinhole leak when you are in the middle of dumping the black tank), then finally it just rusted through and I lost the hose & fittings when the bottom fell out. I don't recommend you wash everything in bleach since bleach is harmful to rubber and the gaskets on the fittings are rubber and repeated exposure will cause the rubber to dry out and crack thus leaking until you buy new gaskets.

We put it in a separate Rubbermaid tote.

Everything goes in its own tote. After use it goes in the bed of the truck until I get home. I fill the tote with water and a little bleach to clean, dry it out, and then it goes back in the front storage compartment in the TT.

We use the bumper for the slinky and a small snap-lid clear container for the fittings and gloves. Container goes in the basement.
Even before COVID we added a small bottle of hand sanitizer to the clear container inventory. I take off the first glove with the other, take off the remaining glove with my bare hand and with the still-clean bare hand squeeze some sanitizer into the now-potentially contaminated palm. Since the "dirty" hand is now full of sanitizer I use the clean hand to put the container into the basement (now both hands potentially contaminated) and then scrub the sanitizer around on both hands...then into the bathroom for a soapy hand wash and dry with a paper towel.
The fun thing about our hand sanitizer is that somewhere over the years we found a bottle of it labeled "Cleaner Than S--t" and we've refilled it with Purell several times because we still get a kick out of it.

I don't bother using gloves anymore, PITA. When I'm done and everything is put away, I yell, "open the door, gotta wash my hands!" holding my hands up like a doctor in pre-surgery. I have her turn on faucets for me and squeeze soap onto hands for me too. Unbroken human skin is amazing stuff.

I don’t use gloves either. If you store them with the hose, theyre contaminated and they would have to be sanitized after each use. I do what you do, wife opens the door, she turns the water on and squirts soap on my hands...

Another 5" fence post user. Mounted under my trailer using beam clamps (no holes drilled in anything). Also have the U shaped vinyl gutter inside which is useful as a hose support when needed.

If your unit has a factory installed black tank flush system the only way the hose used for that can become contaminated is if it is stored with the black tank drain tube. It cannot be contaminated from flushing the tank.

Never the less, my water supply hose is blue, I have a shorter bright yellow hose for flushing the black tank.

Impossible to cross contaminate this way.

Is that because check valves never ever get stuck open? asking for a friend.
