Newbie question on chemicals
We will begin camping at our seasonal site next month and was wondering what type of black and grey water chemicals I should use--tablets,liquid? Been reading the forum all winter and have picked up useful tips and suggestions--great venue for a first timer.TT is a 2014 Cherokee 304bh.

It's a matter of choice. I use the orange packets from WM. I dump once a week for 4 months. I don't use anything in the gray.

Personally, we use the "geo method". Some borax and some dawn dumped down after each time we empty the tank. We also back flush the tank on most dumps (provided we have full hookups).

You'll get plenty of opinions and most folks don't stay put as you are doing in a seasonal site. While I've not spent more than a couple weeks parked somewhere (so far) if I were in a seasonal, I'd research the products that would treat the tank more like a septic tank (breaking down waste) rather than the typical holding tank chemicals (mask odor and make the tank slick so we can dump in 2 days) that we weekenders deal with.
Things like Rid-Ex for R/V's, Happy Camper, TankTechsRx, GreenGobbler, RV Digest-It come to mind.

We try to avoid buying the products that contain formaldehyde, as it is a toxin/poison. Several products on the market still contain it, even though some states have banned it.

Another "geo method" user. But I use liquid Calgon instead of the Borax.
The searches I've done indicate both work well. My "recipe" is to use the cap on the Calgon bottle and put one cap each of Calgon and Dawn along with some water.

I use Porta-Paks by Walex. I prefer to use chemicals that are safe and actually begin to break down the solids and paper.

Over the years I've tried about everything on the market and now use the Geo Method. That being said I'm never in one place more than a few days. If anyone has used it in a seasonal, pls advise.

I have been using Kronen for years. Has a pleasant smell, plus the little microbes like used in the municipal water treatment plants to keep the tank clean. I also like the easy to use measuring bottle, then you buy the 1/2 gallon to refill.

Tried them all, until...
Happy Camper. You can read about it here. So easy and absolutely NO odor. Tried the packets and liquids...all with varying degrees of success but nothing was odor free all the time until Happy Camper. Can't recommend it highly enough.

We haven't used anything in at least 4 years.
I dump when full, if not I add water and then dump and then rinse the tank - no smells, buildups or any other problems.

For the last 6-7 years we have just used Scott 1,000 sheet rolls of TP and a little (like a squirt) of liquid dish detergent every once in a while in our tanks. It has worked well. A couple of years ago when remodeling our house we had to live in our trailer for 6 months while the workers gutted and redid everything. We hooked up to our septic system and well and had no problems whatsoever the entire time. I use a wand at the end of the season of our normal camping through our toilet which goes directly to the black tank. Since I can look into the tank from the open toilet, I can check for anything left in, and, so far, there has been just a clean tank. That's it. Nothing else has been needed. By the way, no smell, either, unless we leave the bathroom fan on when we flush and it sucks the air up from the toilet (oops!). When I used to dump the chemicals in the tank, it would smell most of the time. Go figure.
