No bypass valve

I have a 2018 Rockwood 2509 TT I just bought. I went to winterize it and noticed there was only 2 valves on the back side of the water heater. 1 cold 1 hot. No bypass. How do you winterize without a bypass vavle.

You have a bypass capability even with 2 valves assuming at least one of them is a 3-way valve. Click that 4 right down there ==> to see what I assume to be your set-up. #4

Can you post a picture of the valve arrangement?
As Mr Dan said, A lot of systems use a 3-way valve on one of the valves so you don't need three valves to bypass the water heater.

My wildwood has two valves (neither is 3 way). I can bypass the water heater.

If it looks like the one below, simply turn each valve handle to point toward the short bypass line.

How can I really bypass the water heater when you have to go thru it to get to the hot line side

Note: I am a newbie and of a plumber

Thanks Mr Dan my tank is like the 1 in pic #4. Not sure how this bypasses the tank with valves in line with the gray line but I will give it a try. Thanks

Setting those valves 'correctly' forces the water through the gray loop instead of through the water heater. "Water Heater Bypass"

Although we are all here via plumbing(pipe laying), my iPhone autocorrected me from “not” to what you read.

What is the correct way to turn them?

By the time I crawl my big ole self all the way across the storage space with a flashlight and bifocals, I can’t see squat.

Forest river’s online manual is about worthless and I have crappy internet and cell service to watch one of their how to videos.

Every tutorial I have to JD has had the 3 valve system

Here's how those two three way valve bypasses work.
The left drawing is normal setting, and the right is in bypass.



Here's also a cutaway of the valve. The circle with the "T" part is the plug and it's what turns.

Bama, does the valve in your schematic only turn 90 degrees?

Both the top and bottom valves only turn 90.

If I see it correctly, in the open position, it looks to allow water to both go thru the valve and into/out of the HW tank. In the closed, it lets water go thru the pipe but not into the tank.

That is correct. There are stops on the valve that allow them to only turn 90º.

Yes, in the normal position water makes a 90º turn through the valve and in the bypass position it goes straight through the valve, but is blocked from going into or out of the heater by the back side of the plug. The cutaway shown would turn CCW (Counter clock wise) for bypass position.

Ok, so it is stupidly simple!!!

Must be my Germanic roots from centuries ago that want to make things more difficult than it has to be.

I will turn the valves and hook up to my air compressor to see if I get anything else out of the lines.

I bet that the air going thru the tank was what was making the humming sound.

If you are are using an air compressor to blow water out of your water lines, make sure that you don't use high pressure. You can break things easily. I cut my pressure to 40 psi and it blows out the water very quickly. Just trying to save you some headaches.
