No hot water
So I have a brand new 31fqsl. Got it home and on the first trip, no hot water. Water heater fires up fine, but nothing comes out of the tap. I have tried every combination of valves etc near the heater. The water heater has hot water, but I can't get it to flow out of it. Any suggestions would be appreciated

The valves on the back side of the WH are still in the winterized position. There are either 2 or 3 valves. Turn the valve on the input side of the WH to allow flow in (usually the bottom valve) and the turn the valve on top to allow water to flow out (sometimes there is a check valve like mine, rather than one that turns) and turn the valve on the line between the in and out lines to block the flow of water. I'm sure WMtire will post a diagram. AND, IF the valves are in the winterized position you most likely don't have any water in the tank so do not turn on the electric heater.

That is how I have everything, the water heater fills up fine, fires up fine, but nothing will come out. I have disconnected the hot line coming out of the back and hot water comes out but not when its called for at the faucet.

It's bound to be in the valve positioning as the OP stated. The second season I had The Beast, I found out the costly way by paying a rolling RV repair guy $20 to show me the bypass valve was turned the wrong way....

I would doublecheck the positioning of the valves as others above have stated. it's easy to confuse the way the handles are turned (as if they are in the open or closed position). We keep this sticky link below at the very top of this subforum you are posting in, just for this common problem. It may help too, and explains the valve handle positions in more detail.
http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...st-103381.html
Now it is entirely possible to get a bad valve, and when you turn the handle, it's not actually turning the valve inside. We've had that happen before. You should be able to kind of feel if this is the case as the handle should turn a lot easier than the other ones.

Thanks everyone, I have checked, double checked and checked again, and I am almost 100 percent sure I have the valve's in the correct position, but I'll try again.

OK, I know this sounds crazy, but are you connected to a city water supply with a hose...or are you trying to draw water from your onboard tank via a pump that must be turned on?

I tried with both tank water and city water connection to rule any other issues out.

Do you have any water at all coming from the hot faucet.
You mentioned in your original post... "nothing comes out of the tap".
Maybe it isn't a water heater problem.

If you have the valves correct on the water heater then it must be something else. Not all RV's are made the same so before this becomes a big guessing game why don't you tell us what brand of RV and floorplan you have.

We've seen before, one of the valve handles turn open and close however the valve inside didn't move.
I'm going with that.
You checked for water coming out of tank but not for water on the other side of the valve.

On my unit there is an antifreeze port with a valve. could that valve being on or off have something to do with this?

Likely not. The OP stated he's tried it on city water and the internal pump, neither which have made a difference.
The valve you refer to would keep the internal pump from supplying water to the system (if turned towards the antifreeze port) but would have no effect when hooked to city water.

Does no water at all come out or is it just cold when it comes out?
Does water come out of the cold side?
If it does is it hot or cold?

Its a XLR Nitro 31fqsl. Cold water works, and when I open the bypass and try the hot water handle, I get cold, so it is flowing. Once I turn off the bypass, I get absoultly nothing for hot, and cold still works
