No water from city water source

Hello all!

We just bought a 2017 Wildwood 31KQBTS. Had it out once and had a lot of problems getting water from the city hookup, but it was still cold (snow still on the ground cold) and the campground had just turned back on their water for the season so we chalked it up to that and used the fresh tank.

Now we're on out second trip and are having the same issues, so obviously it's something else.

Great water pressure with the tank and water pump. Nothing from the city hookup. Is there a switch/value somewhere we've missed on this model? Water flows great through the pressure gauge and water filter, so we know there are no clogs, etc there. Water to all faucets with the fresh tank and pulp, no issues there. It's literally as soon as we screw the hose into the city water connection.

Any suggestions/advise greatly appreciated! Thanks all!

Sounds like a valve is closed somewhere. My old rig was a Wildwood X-Lite but it didn't have one. But that's not to say the newer ones don't. I would start looking where the city water supply comes in. Good luck.

I would experiment with your winterization bypass/shut off valves. Something may have been plumed wrong and with trying different open shut etc you may discover the problem.

Look inside, behind the city water connection. I would trace the line to find the kink.
You can also remove the sediment screen on the city water connection and depress the check valve. (with the system depressurized.)

I have the same camper, but a 2016

pull out your rear right side drawers to see the water lines. Check for kinks like others said.

While you are there - make sure all the connections are tight. Mine leaked last year at this area.

if the kink isn't here, then it must be somewhere else in the water line where you can't see it. You could try crawling under the camper to look?

if nothing else, take it in for service... you are still under warranty.

Can you post a photo of your connection? It might help with answers.
Some units have a water bay with various valves you turn to select city water/fill fresh tank/etc.

There is a one way check valve and filter screen as part of the inlet connection. That valve can stick closed and the screen can rust shut.

Might be time to replace the unit and is well within the average DIY'ers skill set.

I would try replacing the screen washer first and while it is out, jiggle the little plastic nub on the check valve with water pressure from the water pump. If it won't shut off again, you will need to replace it so have one on hand (or a spare hose thread backflow valve or plug) to screw in.

Wildwood City Water

Mine is a 2014 model, but there are no valves between the water intake point and the faucet valves. You have to have an obstruction somewhere in the system. You should be able to simply hook up to city water and use it.

should just be a connection on the back like this, unless they changed since the 2016 model year.

(the water filter/regulator is my custom design)

The water intake point has an internal check valve as part of the valve.

This is required to keep the water from shooting out when you use the water pump and fresh water tank.

The attached repair article is from JohnB of Radnor Ohio; Thanks John.

This was the problem! Thank you so much for the advice---straightened out the hose and it's running like a champ!

Thank you all for the words of wisdom! It was a linked line under the drawers in the back. Thanks to all the advice---we've got lots of water now!

Thanks for the reply and letting everyone know what you found and how you corrected the problem. Others will probably benefit as well.
