On board Water pump = outflow thru city water hookup
OH. Help. Just getting this tt set up in the driveway. Many, many little issues to resolve. Its a 2016 Surveyor 251RKS.
I've used the house supply water, with a pressure regulator = no problem. Hot water = no problem (after finding the hidden switch)
Now, when I've filled the onboard potable tank and turn on the internal water pump, it pumps water OUT the city water hook up - with the hose disconnected.
Is there a manual valve to operate? Shouldn't the internal system work automatically?
Removed screen - no check ball visible. Reattached city water hose and ran for a moment. Lots of pressure / water when detaching hose. Ran onboard pump. . . lots of water exiting city water connection.
Do you have proper water pressure inside when just using city water. Inline check valve might be installed backwards, stuck open, or was not installed at all.
Well maybe Forest River guys did not installed proper city water inlet.....there should be a check valve at inlet. Follow city water plumbing inside trailer and see how it is piped with water pump, maybe there is a selector valve???
Sounds like the check valve is missing or damaged. Turn off pump, open a faucet to relieve pressure. Then remove screen and you should see a small plastic piece in there. It should be spring loaded and you should be able to push it in a short distance. There is an o-ring in there that can push pushed out of place if someone pushes it in by hand while under pressure, such as during the winterizing process.
I'm not trying to use the onboard water pump when shore-tied with a city water hose. It's when I try to use the 20 gal potable onboard source that the coach pump pushes water out the city connection.
Buy a new valve? I just bought this coach (new) on 4/7 - my punch list grows by the day. I'm finding pinched waterlines. Leaks at the sink / metal basket (not the p-trap), gaps thru the floor, unsealed with that magic expanding foam that's in evidence. The coach battery was down a cup of (distilled) water. . . I have an appointment for 4/23 to return it for " repairs" -- probably have to leave it. There goes 3 maybe 4 weekend camps.
Must be missing something. I thought you did not use the water pump when connected to city water.
You don't. The pumps only purpose is to pump water from the fresh water tank.
There is a check valve on the water pump. If the pump is not used very often sometimes the valve sticks.
Add water to the tank. Remove the hose from the fill connection. Then open a couple of the faucets. Turn the pump on and off a half dozen times and maybe the valve will unstick. If it doesn't then you will have to remove the pump and take it apart and free the check valve by hand. I have never had to do it but there are a few threads that tell you how to do it. From what I have read it does not appear too hard to do. The hard part is getting to the pump to remove it. Good luck.

I was was filling the 20 gal potable tank and going to use the onboard water system, after trying the city water hose hook up. Did just what the above postings say. Seems that the internal check valve is no good. Disappointed that it wasn't discovered in the initial delivery walk-thru. Makes me think the system wasn't checked. (yes, even on using the city water, I had the water pressure regulator in the hoseline). Also found a couple of 90* bends in interior water supply lines to sink. Again, too bad this wasn't evident on delivery. Oh well. Appointment made to return trailer at the end of the month for these items.

Actually you can In fact use the pump when connected to city water. I always keep water in our tank when we are going to be at same place for a bit. We have had the park pressure drop or completely lose water pressure on the city connection. In this case I turn on the pump to increase or take over the water system until the city pressure rises or returns.
I don't really know how to explain this but will try. On my coach I have what I think is called a wet station. It contains different valves and my outdoor shower in this compartment sealed by a slam latch door. Mine need to be in certain positions to work properly. If yours has this do they need to be set to work properly?
Now I understand. You were testing BOTH water systems.
Yes he is checking what should have been done before the walk thru but apparently wasn't done. Not a good dealer in my opinion or these things should have been checked.
