Pex connecter

I am going to replace my water filter with on that uses regular size filters. I do not have a pex clamp installer..What I need is a different way to make the connection. I believe I may have seen these at local R V store but can't find any online. I will check for sure next time I go over there . I am wondering if I really did see them or if it eas something else.

SharkBite push-to-connecting fittings ... they're a bit expensive, but real easy to use. No expensive tools needed. Most good plumbing supply store will carry them.

Try Oetiker clamp Pliers. They are not much more than a pair of long handled end nippers. You could probably do it with a set of diagonal cutters from both sides if you're clever!

Shark Bites from your local hardware store work fantastic. They cost more but you will only need a couple. They are easy to work with in tight spots, can be taken apart easily if you need to, and rarely fail once installed. I had a mobile RV repair guy once tell me that's all he uses now when doing plumbing repairs for people because he has that much confidence in them once he leaves the jobsite.

Unlilely to work - PEX clamps want a lot of force to set.

Question on SB push.

Can you use those shark bytes push on with the white tubing that is used in may rigs or only safe with PEX> My rig has some PEX but mostly the white 150lb pressure tubing.

I would guess not, presuming that you're describing the flexible braided PVC tubing.

If you are talking about the white braided flexible tubing that johnbryanpeters is referencing... Shark Bites will not work on those.

Another for Shark Bite!
I deleted the water filter completely.

No need to try and see if it would work on PEX - just get the right fittings.

Davidceder. There are speciality fittings you can purchase online that have barbed fittings on one end and a push on fitting on the other. This will let you join the braided hose to Pex pipe.

How about braided to braided? Same connector as braided to PEX?

Sharkbite connectors are a good option, super easy to work with even in a confined space - but they are very pricey. 3 sharkbite fittings equal the cost of a PEX clamp tool in my world, the PEX fittings and clamp rings on the other hand are dirt cheap.

I use the same fittings and copper rings on braided PVC hose as well, however I widen the clamp rings slightly over a steel punch so they go over the hose easier.

Not a fan of pinch clamps, they can leak occasionally and are more expensive than PEX copper rings.

Whatever method you choose make sure you cut the ends square.

Edit: Everything mentioned can be bought at the local hardware store or BORG at a fraction of the price an RV dealership charges.
