Poor design of Rockwood 8310 ?
We just did a shake-down cruise in our new Rockwood 8310. This model has a separate galley waste water drain in addition to the normal gray and black drains. We quickly found that the small galley waste water tank must be drained on a near-daily basis if much cooking is done, or else the waste water backs up into the sink...thus if camping for much longer than a single day, a flexible sewer line really needs to be left in place between the galley shut-off valve and the RV Park sewer pipe. But...the shut-off valve on the galley drain must be kept shut off except when actually draining the system, otherwise sewer gas comes into the kitchen. The problem is that the galley shut-off valve is located beneath where the living room slides out, thus about once a day I have to either retract and again extend the slide, or else crawl underneath it, to reach the shut-off valve to drain the galley tank. A real pain in the butt due to poor engineering design!!!! I'm probably going to try to cut the galley drain pipe behind the cut-off valve and install a 45 degree pipe extension so as to position the cut-off valve at the side of the trailer, just to the rear of the slide, so as to make it accessable. Any thoughts or better solutions?
