Preserving Water Filter?

I've been glamping in our 21' Forest River TT for a couple of years now. After seeing some threads on here, I decided I should have a water filter for our fresh water. So bought a Taste Pure Carbon RV water filter that connects to the faucet and then my hose connects to it.

My situation is that most of the time we use the TT it's to a resort park somewhere in Florida where we can meet up with my son and his family. These trips are usually just 2 1/2 weekend days unless it is summer time.

I know these filters are good for more than just a few days, maybe a whole season. How can I keep the filter ready for use the next time, if I just cap it I kind of feel that the water inside will be moldy in a few weeks or months when we go out again. I don't want to buy a new filter several times a year if I can avoid it. Thanks.

When our RV is not in use, we put our filter in a 1 gallon zip lock bag and store it in our home fridge until we leave for the next trip. Haven't had any issues doing so to date.

The last one we bought had instructions to store it in the refrigerator between use.
Make certain that you flush it for a minute to get rid of the excess carbon before you attach it to the rv.
