Pump runs

Maybe brought up before. Water pump, old and new, runs for a short time occasionally. No leaks known. Researched, was mentioned city water fill check valve could have an issue. Anyone experience this, what found if did?

First as a general rule you should not have the city water connected and on at the same time that the pump is turned on. If you have both connected the one with the higher pressure will generally rule. So turn off the pump when you are connected to city water. The check valve is a flapper of sorts, and what ever side of the valve that has the higher pressure will will allow the flow to the other side. Your pump may be the lower pressure side.

Is the city water connection wet on the outside? If it is, then the check valve at that fitting is leaking.

You have a leak somewhere. Since the RV plumbing system is such a small, closed system, it won't take much of a leak to lower the pressure to trip the pressure switch to on. You might have just a small, few drops per hour leak somewhere that you can't see like behind the shower faucet.

If pump runs occasionally when city water is off, the check valve in the pump may have a small leak.

Then you've probably got a small leak somewhere. Could be the pump, could be a fitting, could even be normal adjustment of the water pressure after you've used the water.

This is what happened with my Microlite. Water pump check valve would release enough pressure to cause the water pump to intermittently come on for a second or two....

Not necessarily a leak.

I've had two pumps that the internal check valve would allow enough pressure to bypass where the pump would run for about 2 seconds every 3-4 hours.

It still could be a leak but not always.

What you describe is still a leak. The pump internal check valve is leaking.

Hot water heater could cause this occasionally , small leak in back flow/check valve on pump , large temperature changes .
If you find no leaks and check valve is good you can always add a check valve to the inlet side of the pump . A expansion tank or better called a pressure tank added on system will help this if all other is good . The pressure tank will allow the pump to not come on and off so often , carry a gallon or 2 of extra water depending on size of tank .
