Rapid Recovery. Water Heater

Can I run my water heater on both electric and propane at the same time to get a faster recovery? Wifey is complaining that it take too long to get hot again after a shower.

Absolutely. Many RV'ers do this.

when we set up we only turn on the electric heater. when we shower we turn on the gas portion and turn it off when done. two of us can shower and still have plenty of hot water left. just remember, its a 6 gallon tank.

there is a 1440 watt electric heating element in there that recovers at 6.1 gallons per hour. when gas and electric are supplied, it recovers at 16.2 gallons per hour. Gas only recovers at 10.1 gallons per hour.

If you have electricity available and more than one person showering, one after the other, running both is the only way to go.

Yes you can run both - we do as everyone else has said when we take back to back showers.
