I know you should leave the bleach/water solution in your system for 24 hours. Does it hurt anything if it is left in there for 48? Does is benefit anything to leave it in for more than 24?

Depending on how strong of a solution you have, Nothing will be gained from the 48hr soak. Don't think anything will be harmed !
