Wellcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. You are providing very little information to get an answer. Are you hooked up to a park sewer if so shut your dump valve. A good share of the time the small is from the gray tank because your traps have gone dry or an under sink air gap has failed.

Welcome!!!!!!................... please more information.
As has been asked are you hooked up at a campground or other sewer and are your tank valves open? If so close them. There are several possible causes but more info will help narrow it down.

I am not hooked up to sewer. I think the fitting from the top of the black tank and the sewer pipe is leaking sewer gas. I think it’s just a rubber gasket the pipe slides into.

I had real bad sewer smell in my new camper and it turned out to be an improper seal on the roof vent stack. It allowed sewer gas from the holding tank to just exit the stack and drop right into the bathroom.
Repaired immediately by the Flagstaff crew at the Rally.
Glad I mentioned it to them because a few rains would have really messed up my roof.

I removed the roof cap. The sewer pipe is at least 2” above the roof. Don’t think the gas could be going back inside the roof.

Are you sure it is coming from the black tank?
Grey tanks can often stink worse than black tanks and if you regularly put food scraps down the drain without any kind of grey tank maintenance, the stink can come out of the air admittance valve under the sink(s)

Already replaced the domestic 300 series toilet. Tested the siphon valve in the kitchen sink.

To eliminate the possibility of it being the vent pipe coming out of the top of the tank, fill your tank with clean water until you can see it rising up into the toilet. If no water shows up below, the vent (and the toilet drain) is sealed.

I had considered this too. Sounds much more logical when you say it. Gonna try it this afternoon.

I filled the tank. Was was about 4” up past the floor in the toilet. Cut hole in the underside insulation and mesh, felt around the fitting and was dry, so not the fitting going into the tank.

The only time I ever noticed a bad smell out of the blue — only noticeable outside and not at all noticeable inside — I found that my very curious five-year-old grandson had pulled the black tank valve open about one inch — I had noticed him spending a little bit of time on that side of my camper earlier, but didn’t think twice about it at the time. That’s all it took — about a half-day of more people than usual using the bathroom to create a small pile in the tank beneath the toilet. this was easy to take care of since I caught it pretty quickly, but while I was inside taking care of it, I felt an earthquake. The same grandson had hopped into his parents’ rental golf cart, stepped on the gas and ran it into the tongue of my camper. Never leave the key in the ignition of a golf cart, especially with it in the “run” position. That was a memorable week!
