Are you leaving the grey water tank dump valve open ? If so close it when not dumping. (Open will allow sewer gas from the dump to come back in )
You need to check the sewer roof vent to see if it is clogged in the vent cap. (Spider, wasp, birds can clog the vent opening )
No matter what you should consider installing this.

I often (not always) leave my galley gray tank valve open. The P-trap under my kitchen sink keeps the smell out of my trailer.
However, I did replace the air admittance valve under there after it failed. That solved my short-lived problem.

X2

We sometimes leave our one grey valve open as the kitchen sink and the shower drain into one tank. Along with the P-trap, a simple dip in the sewer hose somewhere between the dump port and the campground's sewer connection (homemade P-Trap) adds a secondary layer of protection from any sewer gases coming back into the R/V.

Exactly. Most folks I know handle the gray tanks this way. Great advice.

(What model toilet do you have? The Dometic 300 has been known to hold urine between the upper/lower halves) and stink awful.)

We had the same problem and it was the Dometic toilet. There's a small opening behind the bowl and put some paper towel in it. If it comes out wet, that's the problem. Dometic replaced the toilet even though we were out of warranty. Search in the formus for more info, but that's basically it. Good luck.

Dometic 300 toilets are noted to leak and allow liquid waste to accumulate in the base. After a few days.......it stinks. Solution: Replace the Dometic 300 with an exact form, fit, and function Dometic model 310. The 320 is a bit nicer if there is adequate room. Check the space requirements first.

As to dump valves, always keep them closed, even if your campsite has a sewer connection. There are odors and sewer flies that can come into your system if the valves are left open. Just dump when needed to do so or dump daily, but DO NOT leave the valves open.

Several of us have a different opinion (see earlier posts). We’ve never had sewer flies; we don’t have sewer odors and we stay in our trailer more than 100 nights every year.

That's GREAT!

If you ever encounter a situation where there are sewer flies and they invade your system due to dump valves being open........you'll have a different opinion.

See post #24 for an easy fix that allows you to keep the gray valve open......

Yep, saw that earlier. Only valid if and when the "P trap" is full of water.

Not a Dometic 300

Post #17 and this post have suggested the cause might be a Dometic 300. This is just silly.

In Post #1, the Original Poster states that he has a brand-new trailer. Dometic has not made the model 300 for several years.

Furthermore, the urine leak problem typically didn't show up until after months or years of use.

If the grey water tank is empty, with the valve open, there is no water to fill the P trap. And in a 4" line, the "P trap" will take 2 or 3 gallons to fill it.

As to being smarter.......that is a really snide comment. Of course, there are folks who have an ID10T error with the keyboard.

I'm guessing you really don't like when other folks keep their gray tank valve open

For the sake of those reading along... I just went out and dumped the contents of my 4" Rhino homemade P-trap into a bucket... it came to a 1/4" above the 32 oz. mark so slightly more than a quart. No guessing.

I also don't open my grey valve (that I then leave open) until we both shower the 1st morning so no empty tank either.

I could care less if others feel this practice is reckless but exaggerated guesses as to why they say it to be is not what I experience in the real world.

I am still waiting for the response from the OP? If they ever tried to isolate exactly which component the smell is coming from? May take some time but not needlessly replacing random parts. We call that troubleshooting around here.
Maybe the sewer smell was a dead varmint?

I have used this for the last 8 years works great.
