Sewer smell in bathroom

We have a Apex 215RBK which has a large cabinet in the batroom with the vent pipe for the black water tank running through it. While connected to sewer in a full hook-up site, the smell of sewer was overwhelming in the cabinet. I assume there is a possible bad seal between the vent pipe and the interior cabinet somewhere. Any guidence would be greatly appreciated.

Is there an air admittance valve in the cabinet similar to below? If there is, often these don't seal properly. Need to take apart and fix or buy new one at big box store.

Remove valve and shake, it it rattles valve is bad. Seals dry up. They are cheap
$ 3-5 each
Better valves are available but at $ 20-25ea
Just replace.
My bathroom sink valve was a PITA because no room to remove w/o removing sink top which was a bigger job. I cut pipe/new fittings...
FYI the pipes in the rv did not match up w/Schedule 40 because the use cheap Schedule 20 thinner pipes.
Fernco couplings will be your friend.

You should not leave the black water waste valve open when camping. Only open when it is time to empty. Then close again.

There have been reports where the black tank vent wasn't adhered to the tank. There have also been reports where couplings in the plumbing wasn't glued at all.

I'd check the vent pipe well, especially if there's any joints in it.

We got sewer smells in the bathroom so I popped the covers off the vent pipes and found that the pipes had been cut short and at somewhat of an angle. The gap where the pipe penetrates the roof was not sealed. It seems that gases could get into the ceiling space. I sealed the gap with silicone. We haven't been camping since then so it's wait and see if that fixed it. If that doesn't do it I guess the next step would be a Cyclone or 360 Siphon vent cap for venturi extraction.

Look again. Under bathroom sink, up high, above the trap and pipes. Often difficult to see.
