Shower drain showing water

Hello all. I have a 2021 Freedom Express 19RBS.

I noticed something in my shower drain today when looking to see where a leak which dealer has not been able to fix, was coming from.

I noticed that right under the drain a small leak was dripping from the very top of it. I also noticed that there was water sitting in the drain and I already had emptied gray tank completely. Is that normal?

Could it be clogged, and if so was can be used to unclog it? New to this so wondering if unclogging a drain is done the same as at home.

Thanks

You are more than likely see water standing in the drain trap and this is normal. Your shower and sink drains in your rig are set up just like your drain plumbing in your home.

So more than likely the water leak at the drain could be because it's not sealed properly at the drain itself? It seems tight enough. No gaps at shower floor.

The seal in the drain itself could not be sealed properly or the trap is not tightened enough to the drain line. It is a good idea once you arrive at your campsite to check your drain trap fittings for any looseness as they sometimes work free due to the bumpy travel on the road.

It seems the trap is tight. I could not tighten any further. Now I did feel water at very top where Drain connect to trap. I put a pic of where I feel water coming out.

Shower drain

On my SIERRA 368FBDS, I had a shower that wasn't draining very well. I found that instead of the standard U trap, FR had used a Membrane Trap unit and the membrane inside the trap had stuck closed. I replaced it and no more troubles.

Tighten it!

Tighten the thin white nut at the very top, so it clamps the rubber ring against the shower base.

Use a plumber's wrench like this one.

If you believe there is a chance that the shower drain may be simply clogged, start with a tool like this clamp https://www.amazon.com/Remover-Clean...%2C136&sr=8-33

First off, the OP said there was dripping beneath the shower pan. He didn't say anything about failure to drain.

Second, you should NEVER recommend using a tool like that unless you are CERTAIN that there is a trap beneath the shower. You could cause expensive damage. In this case you cannot tell from the images whether there is a trap or not.

Some RVs use a HepvO valve instead of a trap (U-shaped pipe segment). The thin rubber segment inside the valve opens to let water out, but then collapses to prevent gaseous fumes from going the other direction. Jamming one of those grabbers through it will tear it and prevent it from stopping reverse flow of stinky fumes.
