Shower Draining Slow

The shower drain on our 2019 331K is draining very slowly. I investigated the drain pipe from the compartment below to find there is a straight pipe into the bathroom gray water tank. This was very surprising not the see a trap or a vent on this drain. Was thinking on adding a trap and and inline vent.

Anyone out there having the same problem and what mod they may have made to correct this problem.

Also it appears that the shower base is not level to the 5th wheel floor since there is standing water in the shower base after every shower that we need to squidgy into the drain.

I would suspect that there is a hepvo style of trap on the shower and you just can't see it. With that said it may be clogging with hair and such. I had the same problem with the shower pan due to the size of hole FR cut in the floor providing no support for part of the shower pan. I covered the hole and made support for the pan with styrofoam has worked great.

I agree you probably have a HepVo type trap.
They have been known to cause some issues as they take a good bit of flow to open the internal diaphragm, something that you don't normally get with Navy showers in a R/V.

They are also easily damaged by someone snaking the drain unsuspectingly not realizing there is a HepVo type trap inline.

You Must have a HEPvO trap. Don’t snake it. You should first just try flushing it out with a garden hose. Take the drain cover off, put the garden hose into the drain a couple of inches and pack a wet rag around the hose inside of the pipe. Pack it in with a screwdriver or something similar. Turn the water on to the garden hose and let it run for a minute or so. This should clear it.

If that doesn’t do it, sulphuric acid is your friend and it won’t hurt anything in your plumbing system. It will clear the hair from the beak of the HEPvO trap.

I had a leak. Fitting to the hepvo was broken. Repaired it and saw that the hepvo was half full of congealed soap so replaced it. Mine was connected directly to the elbow from the shower drain.

I’ve gotten in the habit of setting the shower head to its strongest flow at the end of a shower and directing the stream of water directly into the drain from an inch away. It usually bubbles up bit and then empties out. I suspect it’s gunk on the HepvO valve.

HEPvO traps are just a problem waiting to happen. I would do whatever was necessary to eliminate one of these things if it was in my RV.
