I agree you probably have a HepVo type trap.
They have been known to cause some issues as they take a good bit of flow to open the internal diaphragm, something that you don't normally get with Navy showers in a R/V.
They are also easily damaged by someone snaking the drain unsuspectingly not realizing there is a HepVo type trap inline.
