so an 18 wheeler blew a tire took out grey water line

On my trip from Anchorage to Dallas I was behind an 18 wheeler when it blew a tire and there was a large chunk of tire that I ran over.

It took out my grey water line, breaking off the gate valve at the Y at one end and all the way to the 90 degree turn on the other.

I am comfortable putting in new lines, but am not sure of the best way to connect to the 90 and the y with the old pipe still in it.

do I try to cut / grind the old pipe out?

do I look for a fitting that would fit inside the existing pipe and then expand it back up

do I try to find a fitting that will fit over the outside of the fitting?

They make a special drill bit that removes the broken piece from the fitting. I good plumbing supply house will have one or you can call a plumber to drill it out for you.

Always a good idea to make lines larger as fluids exit. Otherwise, debris will slowly build up. Those Home Despot tools actually work!

I have always used a hacksaw blade to cut a slit in the inside pipe, careful not to cut fitting. Used a heat gun around perimeter of fitting to warm up real good. Use a small flat bladed screwdriver to gently wedge between fitting and pipe where you cut in first step. Once it's started separating, use a pair of needle nose plier's, grab where you lifted pipe up with screwdriver. And start twisting plier's to roll pipe around like a tube of toothpaste. May have to reheat while using plier's.

Have done it many many times when in swimming pool business.

Reprime pipe and fitting before repair.

My 2 cents

Had the same thing happen to me 3 days ago except this took half my mud flap off my rig. Had to straighten out some angle iron and do some fiberglass work the next day. Be safe out there

I found a a piece of steel that just fit inside the pipe. I heated it up on the gas grill and put it inside the pipe. I expected to be able to get the pipe out. It failed totally, and I ended up with a mess.

I stopped by a local RV parts store,

The 1 1/2 gate valve and adapter plates was going to cost $20.

they had a replacement that will bolt in and it includes both gate gate valves. It costs $39.

The 3 inch gate valve is sticking and getting hard to work.

So I am going to replace the valve assembly and both gage valves.

I hope to pick it up tomorrow.

I have to find place to dump the tank before I go any further.

The RV place wants $30 to dump the tank.

I looked online, and found 3 local places, including a local state park,

They cloded their dump site 7 years ago.
the other 2 places did not have any idea of why they were listed.

I am tempted to buy Valterra SS01 Sewer Solution Pump/ All-In-One Macerator System so I can dump it at home.

At home, is your clean out near enough to your RV to just dump direct? BTW, the macerator works great! Had my daughter in my rig for a month a while ago. My sewer hoses did not quite make it, so I drug out the macerator. First time I used it for a real reason. (Bought off C.L., $40).

the cleanout is close to the house, which is on a hill, so I cannot drain down to it.

I picked up a closeout of the head only for $40 (better than the $90 for the kit) I will add on some 3/4 hose that I already have.
