Those handles screw onto the rod that goes into the valve and you can buy replacement T-handles almost everywhere that sells R/V parts and online.

that being straight down lets all the crap settle in the valve slide groove. move it to horizontal. drill a tiny hole sbove slide rod ,just big enough for a spray lube red tube . keep it lubed . be sure to put a screw in hole or it will squirt on you. paint top of screw white for easy recognition of where it is located.

Moved thread from the General Community Discussion section to the Plumbing and Water Systems sub-forum since the OP's questions are specific to that sub-forum.

Check out this video. It will explain Thomas' post.
And BTW I've been doing this for years and it works. Still using the same valves our camper came with. Use stainless steel screws.

If you spend any time here, you’ll see that members give helpful tips that are not merely crisp answers to questions asked. We use what info we can and skip what we don’t need. We don’t always complain that someone gave too much information. The possibility exists that one ear of the T-handle broke off because the handle/rod/valve didn’t slide smoothly.
I’ve seen T-handles work even with a broken ear.

I agree. This looks like two potential problems to me. (in addition to the broken handle)
1) it seems to be that the T-handle is pointing straight down at the ground. This puts the handle in an unprotected position and might well be the lowest point on the undercarriage. In addition to the handle breaking off again, I could foresee a piece of road debris breaking the whole valve off.
2) With that handle pointing down, it means that the blade in the valve slides down to open and up to close. When the valve is open, the blade and the slot that it slides into is a low point in the drain path, which could cause it to collect debris and drag or even jam.
The suggestion to remove the valve, rotate it 90 degrees and bolt it back on solves both of those problems, while probably making the T-handle easier to reach and manipulate. If my trailer had come like that, I think I would have rotated that valve long before the handle had a chance to break off. Just because I'm lazy!
But hey.... you can lead a horse to water....

my problem with those valves is that they tend to leak a bit, even new ones... makes for a surprise when you take the cap off to attach a drain hose...

Even though the originator of this thread didn't appreciate the friendly advice from Thomas ho - I did. It reminded me I need to do the lubrication on my T-handles. So I am thankful for that.
