Tank indicators

Can anyone help me with our tank indicators. I can fully discharge the black and grey tanks but the indicators still show full or 3/4 full. Is there a way to correct this?

RV tank indicators are notorious for this problem! Each light in the indicator is lit by a little button type sender located within the side of the tank. All it takes is a little crud to loge on the sender and the light will come on. So never depend only upon the indicators. The best fix is lots of water. Put 1/2 cup regular dawn dish soap and 1/2 cup of calgon water softener in the tank after you dump along with about 2 gallons of water. Then drive down the road such as on the way home, the sloshing will help to dislodge the crud. In the gray tanks you already have sufficient soap scum in the tank so only add 1/2 cup of calgon after you dump the tank. If you do this the tank indicators will work much better but not perfect.

Like clr stated. "lots of water and flushing". the 1/2 cup of calgon will help as well.

Our trailer is stationary and I make it point to flush/drain all the tanks on Sunday before leaving and find at times when the tanks have emptied that the light still ready 1/3 full yet nothing is coming out.

It's not necessarily crud hung up on a sensor. It is more likely just the continuity of the water on the side of the tanks. Calgon is a surfactant which reduces the surface tension of water, causing it to be more fluid which will help it slide off the side of the tanks making continuity between sensors less likely. This is really the only part Calgon has to play in the many black tank cleaning recipes.

My tank indicators in my 393RL park model show 2 black water tanks. Can anyone tell me how this part of the system works.
