Has anyone used this product? If so, how long do you leave the sanitizer in the tank. The directions say a minimum of 60 seconds, but that seems very short compared to bleach, which is left in for hours.
To each his own: I sanitize my tanks by adding Hydrogen Peroxide to water in the tanks. I fill the tanks about half--full by attaching a garden hose to the small fitting on the cap of the drain line. Then I add a pint of HP to each tank via the toilet and kitchen sink. I drive the unit around the block making sure I do a couple of rough starts and stops to make the liquid slosh. After parking it back in my yard I connect a "black, drain line dedicated" garden hose to the unit and my shops septic system and drain them. I then back-flush them one more time and drain them. A nurse friend of mine got me started using the Hydrogen Peroxide stuff. She made sense when she told me that they DO NOT use bleach in any form to clean/sterilize at the hospital or Doctor's offices here. Anyway--works for me.
If my RV had been sitting for years I would bleach or HP the system.
If you are dewinterizing or freshening the system of a frequently used unit, you are just removing stale water taste/smell, if any, to prepare it for use.
Leave the juice in as long as you want to so you feel good about the process.
