Toilet Install Precaution
We used the Dometic 320 I installed when we were at the coast a few days ago.
The second day, we had "tank odor" infiltrating the bathroom.
I pulled the toilet today and found 3 issues that could have caused or contributed to the problem.
1 - the foam seal that came with the toilet has raised lettering on the bottom spelling out This Side Down.
2 - the face of the PLASTIC closet flange also has raised lettering on it, giving the manuf's info and model etc.
3 - the PLASTIC closet flange in the floor was not installed properly and is distorted.
I could feel the curve of the top surface with my hand.
I have some weather stripping that has adhesive on one side. I built up the foam seal another 1/4" or so with the weather stripping. When I set the toilet in place there was a gap of about 1/4" between the it and the floor. Tightening the nuts snugged it down solidly.
I hope this cures the problem.
