Toilet Replacement?

I am on my maiden trip and the Dometic Model 310 Gravity Flush toilet has to be the worse toilet on the market.

What is a good replacement that is easy to swap out?

Agreed. The 310 is one of the most used toilets (no pun intended) in R/V manufacturing. It has a porcelain bowl and has replaced the often leaking 300 that's all plastic.

What exactly is your issue?

Another positive vote for the 310. Ours came in a 2020 Sunseeker. It’s sturdy and mostly trouble free. It did take a year or so for the gate seal to set and work well.

Maybe I have the wrong model number. I think I have the 300 model instead. The toilet I have is all plastic. It sounds and feels like it is falling apart when sitting on it. Another thing is I like the elongated version like the model 320. The model 300 weights only 8 pounds where the 320 weighs 37 pounds. I can handle the weight, but is my floor strong enough?

How hard would this be to swap out?

The 310 is heads above the old 300s. I replaced ours years ago and still like the 310.
Beware....the 320 is not a "plug & play" replacement for the 300 like the 310. Take your measurements carefully the 320 may not fit.

Thanks - this is why I asked the question.

X2

Quite often, people find that because the 320 is elongated, there’s not enough room behind the 320 and a wall. The toilet still has to sit directly over top of the collar on the floor. I believe you’ll find all the specific dimensions for their toilets on their website.

Maybe you could take a pic of the label so you’d know for sure which toilet you have.

It is the Dometic model 300.

Asked and answered: the 310 is miles better than the 300 and is easy to install. Weight difference is primarily because of porcelain vs plastic construction. Will cure all your ills. 320 won't fit in some smaller RV bathroom's tight spaces, but your 26RB has a lot of real estate around the throne (got to like a RB for that feature). From the floor plan, I'd guess (note: guess) that it SHOULD fit (elongation adding mostly to the front of the bowl from the hole), just make sure to measure before purchasing (using a fitment guide on their website) and/or check shipping and return policy from your source.

As to weight: not an issue - units have the same construction from toilet to toilet, just a switch to a different fixture to install at the factory.

Not exactly sure what your issue is with the 300.
Your first post said gravity flush toilet.
310 is better. 320 is best, but they’re ALL GRAVITY FLUSH. They’re RV toilets.

Checking the dimensions the 320 will not fit. I will order the 310 to replace the plastic 300. The wall distance on the 320 is too close to take the chance.

You'll be pleased. The 300 -> 310 mod is one many here have made, and leaves them much happier than dealing with that old plastic pot (plus the swap fixes the urine smell that some have reported).

How close is the back of your old toilet to the wall now? Looks like you will need at least 1.5 inches more from center of the flange. Is your black tank directly underneath and is it a pipe straight down?

I just replaced my thedford with tge 310 and I had to cut out the old flange and down pipe to install an enlongated flange to make the new unit work. If you do put in an enlonggated flange, pick up some thin lexan to make a “splash” guard. Basically you would be making a round hole for the toilet discharge to seal against instead of an oval one to splash out.

It is 3" from the back of the flange to the wall. The black tank is directly underneath with a pipe straight down.

Ok. Measure how far the bolts at the bottom of toilet are to the back wall. Needs to be at least 10 inches for the 310 to work. You should be at 8.5 or greater currently.

Right! The 300 and 310 have identical dimensions. The 320 needs a couple more inches at the back. If there's not two inches of air behind your 300, the 320 won't work.

If there's an interior wall behind the 300, some people have cut a notch in the wall to accommodate the 320.

After ONE trip I pulled out the Dometic 300 POS toilet and it went to the dump. I replaced it with a Dometic 310. I looked at the 320 but determined it would not fit in the space allowed without modification to the rear wall.

The 310 is a very good toilet.

I have 10 3/4" to the back wall
