Using vinegar mixture to flush Suburban water heater

Essentially the same as the instructions for coffee pots to descale. Mixture of white vinegar and water then run through. I think the heat would help the process.

As others have said flush well before the annual bleach run.

Vinegar clean out

Thanks for the advice. I went ahead and removed the PRV, no problem, poured in 3 gallons of vinegar then topped off with 2+ gallons of water. Turned the heater on for about 2 hours then turned off for overnight. About noon today I drained and flushed the system installed a new anode rod and buttoned everything up.
This seemed like a very easy and simple way to clean the time scale out.

I've done this. Removing the relief valve seems to be the only way. Once filled with 50/50 I did let it cook for 30 min to an hour. Let it cool down enough to drain. Watch out, you'll kill any grass with that mixture. Don't ask how I know. I used a usb scope cam before and after and found it cleaned up pretty good. Oh, I also cut off an old annod rod for the plug, not sure what the solution would have done to a good one.

simplest method to clean your hot water tank

THis is a link to the best way I found. It is so simple. you only need a few PVC parts. no need to remove anything but the anode rod.
