Do I use the Valterra Vented RV Waste Valve Cap while trailer is winterized?

Designed to vent your black-water tank while in storage. Keeps waste tank dry and odor free.

Yeah but isnt that a vent to help flush the tank or something? Is it a vent to air out the tank? Where does that vent you speak of vent out typically?

The vent on your black tank equalizes the air in the tank when you flush the toilet and when you dump the tank. If that vent wasn't there you would have back pressure when flushing the toilet that might cause the nasties to burp out of the toilet, When you dump the tank, it lets the air in to replace the liquids coming out the dump valve. If it wasn't there your tank will gurgle while dumping.

Just as I suspected. So, back to the vent at hand. Do you use or is this something to consider doing?

I’ve owned a RV for over 15 years and have never seen one of those let alone use one. There is loads of “gadgets” you can buy and waste money on that make no difference one way or another.

So much junk out there that isn't needed. People just Trying to sell stuff to others who Don't know any better. I have been guilty of buying some of that junk over the 20 plus years of RVing I've done. I've finally learned, if it doesn't make my life easier or solve a problem that I know I have...i don't need it.

Into our 18th year of RVing and didn’t know they made such and never needed it. I’d save my money or go buy a good cup of coffee.

I've never seen one either, but it would appear it is to admit air into an open tank while it vents out the roof vents. I will pass on it.

I would think it would allow the seals on you gate valves to dry out.
