Viking 17BH Freshwater Tank Issue
Good Morning,
I own a 2018 Viking 17bh. I haven't used my freshwater tank until this year. I noticed when filling that there is an uncapped line directly behind the low point drain for hot and cold water. This line is attached to the bottom of the freshwater tank to a "T" fitting on the direct bottom of the tank. When I am filling the freshwater tank this immediately starts leaking, not a lot but a steady trickle.
I haven't used the tank so I dont remember if there was a cap on there originally. In addition, I do not know how to drain this tank.

There are two drains down there. One is the tank drain attached to the bottom of the tank. It will have a valve on it. The other is a an vent/overflow line with no valve.

Thats just the thing, it is just a "T" fitting. I can find no valve to turn to drain the tank. I see the low point drain but that just drains the camper water lines. As soon as I put water into the tank, the line attached to the "T" fitting starts trickling water from it.

It looks like the end cap is missing from that line from the T, that looks like the tank drain.

Out the forward tube, the one without the cap. Drained a 1/3 tank overnight

It appears someone combined the vent and the drain. Tthat will not work. No way to stop tank drain without a cap. If you cap then there is no tank vent/overflow

Did you buy the trailer new? Even though my Clipper 17bh is a couple years older, I would expect it to look the same but it sure doesn’t...

The two drains in the foreground are the hot and cold low point drains. The line on the T fitting is the tank drain and it appears to be missing the cap. You need a cap on it.

It must be the tank drain. Who knows why it has a hose extending from the 'T' instead of a valve. There has to be another hose coming from the top of the tank for the vent. A vent hose connected at the bottom will not work for venting as the water will fill it and not let air in or out.
If it were mine I would put a drain valve on a short piece of PEX attached to the 'T'. I would think that extra length of hose would be looking for something to catch on.

Vents are located on an upper edge of the tank. I'd say that one line goes to the pump and the other is a drain without the cap.

I had a similar set up. I took the "T" and turned it 90 degrees and added a valve to it.

Vent line
I always travel with full fresh water tank. Have never used "city water". I installed a shut off valve on the vent line or I'd loose about a third of my fresh water while traveling (maybe it's the 5 G turns I make?). Anyway, I have a small sign by the sink to remind me to open the vent when set up but generally I just crack open the fill cap seems to work fine.

Oops, should have mentioned vent and overflow are the same on my set up. Not sure if that's always the case.

My last two trailers had no vent line, just the screen where the vent was supposed to be. Overflow acted as the vent.
