Water drip after filling water tank

Have 2017 Salem 27RKSS . Previous trailer was a Jayco 29N. When I filled the Jayco with water, I would fill til water started coming out overflow onto ground. 2017 Salem apparently does not have overflow. Now fill til I can hear water getting very near full. Then water drips out of area where water drain hose exits plastic liner under water tank. How do I know when to stop filling Salem with water if there is no overflow? Hope slow drip I get after currently filling/overfilling is not a serious issue but appears I cannot determine what is going on.Thank you

There may very well be an overflow hose in the same area as the tank drain.
It may have never been routed correctly or somehow got pushed up inside the Coroplast. (plastic liner)

Have you tried to continue to fill once you "can hear water getting very near full."

Do you have a gravity fill or is your tank filled from the city water connection by turning a valve?

I have gravity fill. When continued to fill when I hear water getting near full, the water starts coming out of the place (hole) where I am adding the water. No apparent overflow hose on my trailer. Water continues to slowly drip out until I remove a gallon or two of the extra water.

Only way to know what is going on, and where your vent hose is, is to take down enough coroplast to investigate. Anything else is just a guess.

My Flagstaff doesn't have an overflow. It does have a vent hose that is connected to the gravity fill port. I've been able to fill until water comes out the port and then put the cap on - no drips.
I wonder if your vent tube is disconnected from the fill port and is hanging such that you get that drip.

On the 29RKSS which is the fifth wheel version of the 27RKSS the vent/overflow for the fresh water tank is right behind the axles on the curb (door) side. There are also a couple of low point drains near the side wall a little further back. The vent in the gravity fill fitting is caulked closed because there's nothing hooked to it.

Take a look at yours and see if you see those pipes sticking from underneath the RV.
It's possible that the vent/overflow has came loose from the fitting in the tank.

Sounds like a missing or loose clamp on a vent line.

i doubt there's an "overflow" on any fresh water tank. Your previous trailer "overflow" was probably the vent. There should be a small screened vent right next to the fill port, that SHOULD be connected to the tank vent, might have fallen off or forgot to install. Like NMWildcat suggested do some looking around underneath for the vent line.

What about the FW tank drain or a low point drain, that's partially open.

There have been many reports where the vent/overflow WAS NOT hooked to the small screened vent on the fill port. The vent/overflow was routed beneath the R/V and a daub of sealant smeared over the small screen.

One poster even pulled the fill port out to make sure it hadn't fallen off and reported it never was connected and couldn't be connected, as the hose was routed elsewhere.

Not every R/V is the same, including like models.

That's how ours is done. The vent/overflow is routed down and the screened port in the gravity fill fitting is plugged off.

My Jayco actually has TWO overflow openings! There is the gravity fill inlet, the outlet for the pump, the drain outlet, the vent outlet, and 2 overflow outlets, for a total of six openings in the tank!

The owner's manual even has this to say:

"Do not cap, block or modify the fresh water
tank overflow tubes in any way. Enough water
pressure can build up during the filling process
to damage the plumbing system if the overflow
tubes are obstructed."

What he said!!
Carefully cut a "door" in the coroplast.
Cut it on the sides and rear.
That way the "hinge" side will be towards the front so the wind is blowing it shut.
Tape it shut when done with heavy duty tape of some kind. I did this 4 years ago and taped it shut with aluminum face duct tape. It's still secure after MANY miles and lots of driving in the rain.
