Water filter for drinking water only?
We often "dry camp" at a camp ground that has electricity but no water at the sites. We fill the water at the campground and the water is not the best. We use a ton of water bottles for anything we consume but it is expensive and a pain to manage. I think I can put a water filter on the cold water going to kitchen faucet.
Two questions:
1) Is that a good idea?
2) Any recomendations for filter?
Thanks in advance.

Most of the filters are for taste and possibly lead (we have a Pur filter at home). These a great if the water tastes bad, but do nothing for bacteria and protozoa (salmonella, cholera, E.coli, giardia and cryptosporidium ).
We buy gallon water jugs at the grocery store and fill reusable water bottles for hikes. We also refill the jugs if we have a good water source.
For backpacking I use a Sawyer filter, it's good for 1000s of gallons and easy to use. Without hooking it into your plumbing you could take water from your camper and fill bottles. I would guess you could plumb it in-line (need to remove for winter, freezing will cause it to stop filtering, but appear to work).

Thanks all. The water we use is safe but has quite a bit of sulfur and iron in it so I am looking for filtering that out. It is fine for bathing, washing dishes, etc. but not pleasant to drink. I know they make one for the in coming line if you are hooked to city water but I don't need that. I was hoping I could find one that would fit between the pump and the supply pipe for the cold water at the sink.

I happen to see at home depot the other day an under the sink filter. It is similar to a whole house filter, but much smaller. I think it was made by Glacier Bay. It might work well for you.

Why not put 25-30 gallons in FW tank? Ought to last a week or so if camping at a CG with showers/heads? That's what we go when traveling or staying at CG without water hookup.

In my previous TT, a Jayco, I had a Pur faucet mount filter on the kitchen sink. It came with multiple adapters and the one I needed. It was great. Too bad FR put that faucet with the sprayer on . Now I cant use the Pur set up.
All the water that went into that TT and this one go through a whole house filter with the 10 micron carbon taste odor and sediment cartridge whether in the tank or city connection. Got rid of the KW1 entirely.

My TT came with the WaterPur CCI-10-CLW filter housing. I use a F1Pb filter from the RV Water Filter Store in that housing.

We filter all water coming into the camper with the Waterpur Kwhatever housing. When I fill my fresh water tank, I use the outdoor shower to the fresh water fill and just hookup to city water to do it.
For all drinking water, we use a Berkey water filter and fill 2 1/2 gallon jugs. We have more than 1 so that way one is always full. We previously were buying 10-15 gallons of water a week. To cut our water bottle usage outside of that, we bought dedicated water bottles for each person and keep them in the fridge.
The Berkey was expensive, but everything that I read said that it's a really great quality and it's decent fast at filtering water.

For drinking and cooking we carry a 5 gal clear jug by Coleman and fill it up at a water station when needed. Typically .25 per gal for filtered water. (Walmart, Winn Dixie etc) Typically every 10 days or so. Also carry case of bottled water for drinking. Easy to refrigerate, carry on bike etc. And of course keep FW tank full if dry camping and partial if not. Also use a charcoal filter on inlet hose right behind pressure regulator. Actually had a charcoal filter plug up this winter in FLA. (one of the inline blue ones) smelled strongly of chlorine when I cut it in two.

Our Salem 5th wheel owner's manual states our camper came with a water filter, but we cannot find it under the kitchen sink or back by the bathroom. So where is it? Thanks.

Probably in the basement somewhere behind a removable panel.
Usually inside, somewhat near where the city water connection is on the outside.

These whole house water filters are to protect the PLUMBING from sediment and dirt (while marginally improving "taste"); not you from bad water. Only a purifier can kill or remove bacteria and viruses in questionable water.
