When you pay 1/4 to 1/2 as much for a filter that's about the same reduction you can get in filtration.
I still use the KW1 filter and have no qualms using either city water or tank water for cooking or drinking.
A new filter once per year is no big deal to me. The cost is less than the price of one fancy cup of coffee from Starbucks per month (which I don't buy).
