Not a switch, but a valve. Look around the backside of the wh.

Bypass switch?
To get the WH to heat you either have to be plugged into 120VAC and go outside to turn it on, or you need to turn on the propane and light it by turning the inside switch on. Of course you must have the RV also connected to a water source or you run the risk of burning up the tank. Didn't the dealer show you how to use the systems at PDI?

didn't the dealer's PDI show you where it was and what to do?

sounds like a pretty lousy PDI if they don't even show you where the bypass valve is and how to fill the WH.
God knows what else they failed to do. that's pretty basic PDI info.

Donald,

Welcome to the forum.
Don't let the grouchy old men scare you off.
I know this is your first post.

While I am not familiar with your rig, there are folks here who can help you. We spend an inordinate amount of effort helping users who should have been helped by the dealer they bought their rig from.

Sometimes a photo posted can help us zero in on what you need.
The FAQ section has helpful hints on how to use the forum to search for answers on how to do stuff on the board, like post photos, and find information like manuals for your equipment.

Most of all,

Don't think it will be a switch. It should be a valve and possibly the valve is turned to bypass the water heater.

Iggy, we need a little help here!

Our setup is different in that it has just one valve that can be rotated a 1/4 turn. I've never actually seen it because you have to feel for it but it is there.

Here's the key to the forest! I had the same problem 1st night out. The only access I know of to a wtr htr in 378 is through a 3" white screwed plug just under the access door. Unscrew it reach up in the the back of the heater and your'll soon realize which is the bypass valve. Inlet at bottom, outlet at top and bypass in the middle all towards front of coach. Close it, make sure other two are open, it water will now fill heater and you can start gas or electric.
