Water heater prep for winter

Well got the rig ready for winter and the water heater anode was pretty bad so instead of putting a new anode in I just bought a pvc plug from hardware store and sprayed some fluid film on the outer threads - should make spring clean out and new anode install easier. Click image for larger version

The Atwood I have has a plastic plug that I use pipe tape on, works fine.

I just thread it in by hand to keep the bugs out.

We have to have the anode in for operation, but seems as the anode gets pretty rusted in leaving it all winter and summer. Thinking this will help for the long run using the pvc for winter. At least till we move to a warmer climate.
