water heater question

How long should it take to get the water hot in a 6 gallon tank on propane.? Only reason I wonder is after the winter I fired it up and after 20 minutes the temp relief was dripping and burner was still going? Shut it off because I got nervous.

Pressure relief valve was dripping?
I've never timed it but I would say we feel warm water after 20 minutes. Are you certain all your valves are positioned properly after dewinterizing?

Mine drips sometimes after its been empty for a while and starts to make heat and build pressure. Flip open and let it close, should seal. That's also how you know the tank is full to turn on the elect. side!

I double checked the valves and also added more water to the fresh tank just in case i used too much clearing all the lines of antifreeze. I didn't hook up to my garden hose. Never had a problem last year as far as I know. The manual said it could be normal for it to drip a little if the pressure got high inside or no gap at top of tank?Tried it tonight and after 20 min it was dripping and Iran a little water at sink and heater turned off? Got plenty hot water lol

Tomorrow I will flip the lever on and off on the valve. Maybe it just wasn't sealing. I just thought maybe it was running too long.Had hot water easy enough, and this one is propane only.
