Water heater stopped working

I have a Dometic LP gas water heater on my 2021 Coachmen Mirada. I was using electric only when it just stopped working. I have it on gas now and it is working fine. I’m still under warranty, but would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions on what went wrong on the electric side. Thanks!

The electric side requires 120 volt AC to operate. I assume you are on some form of 120 volt AC power and have also checked the circuit breaker to the water heater in the RV's electrical distribution panel to make sure it has not tripped.

The water heaters (W/H) electric element will usually be on a 15 amp circuit breaker like this example picture below:

If you can provide the model number of your water heater, it might help with getting better answers for you. But for starters, have you tried pushing in the reset button for the electric side of the water heater?

Hmm...do the Dometic/Atwood water heaters even have the reset buttons like the Suburban heaters? I didn’t think about that.

Bruce, the OP stated he has a Dometic (aka Atwood) water heater. I don't believe those brand have a reset like the Suburban brand does.

This guide in our library may help the OP troubleshoot his Dometic water heater

No reset button

Thanks to all. There is no reset button on the heater and I’ve checked the circuit breaker and fuses - all ok there. Spoke with Coachmen Roadside Assistance who essentially said there’s a break in a line somewhere. Looks like a warranty issue, but fortunately Coachmen plant is close by

If you own a multimeter and know how to use it, 5 minutes of testing electrical circuits will let you know what the issue is.

Probably not something a new owner wants to do with a new dometic brand water heater, which the element comes out from the backside of the heater.

Probably just needs to let warranty handle it if it is indeed a manufacturer/appliance problem.

Not always. I had one fail shorted, not open. It would pop the breaker instantly. It was visually indistinguishable from a new one.

Again, thanks for the help. I think I’ll let Coachmen handle the problem as I’m under warranty.
