natural thawing is pretty safe
plastic ... can become brittle when frozen.. let it thaw slowly and don't try to dislodge ice by hitting it
Yes, this was natural thawing. Just left it in the bucket at room temperature.

so if you empty a P trap
do you stuff a rag or something in it
to stop the smell from the tank invading your living area....


I have the opposite problem from heat during storage
P trap water evaporates every so often I go in and throw a cup of water in the sinks , shower and toilet

As posted on this site hundreds of times, you put some RV antifreeze in it.

Two curious thoughts on this:
  1. As I put RV antifreeze into the piping each year, it naturally flows into the traps. I would have to catch the antifreeze in a bucket to keep it from the traps.
  2. We do use the trailer in the winter, after the water's turned off and the antifreeze is in place. But I do wash my hands and brush my teeth with bottled water in the lavatory sink. I've never had a trap freeze.
