Water issue

So I'm having a water issue. We just got our 26 MBRR last Thursday. Filled the fresh water tank up and went out for the weekend. We got to about 3/4 full and lost water pressure and the pump sounded like it was struggling to pump. It was running for a long time. Ot eventually seemed to resolve itself and was fine. This weekend I again filled the tank, and now that we've gotten to 3/4 full it's doing the same thing. Turn the water to a faucet on, water a full pressure for a moment and them it falls to a trickle. The water pump comes on and doesn't seem to catch up. Is there a vent line or something to the fresh water tank to allow air in? I don't see any kinked lines at the pump.

So an update. I checked the strainer and it was clean. Kept trying different faucets thereby cycling the pump. The bathroom faucet spit some air and now the water pressure seems to be back. What the hell?

You might have an intermittent air leak on suction side of pump. Make sure all fittings are snug, including the strainer. Also check anti-freeze suction port. Cycle valve and make sure it is closed completely. Yes, the fresh tank has a vent line to prevent vacuum lock up. Mine has a big gravity fill line, so not sure if it has a separate vent line.

I check the strainer to make sure it wasn't plugged. It's happened twice, both times when the tank was at about 3/4 full. I'll get under it when I get it home and check for kinks in the vent / overflow. All the lines in and out of the pump look good. I'll check that they're snug. Lots of construction debris under the sink around the pump. So some sloppy connections wouldn't surprise me.

Are you SURE water tank was not going empty and was 3/4 full? Those tank sensors are notorious for giving false positive outputs when condensation etc is on sensors. I can at least go under and see my fresh tank, it is not covered up.

The water is working again. Just like last time it faltered at 3/4 full and then came back and worked the rest of the weekend.

guessing a come and go air leak from loose fitting. Hope it's not a pump issue. Maybe just coincidence it seems to happen at 3/4 tank.

My gut says it's not venting for some reason. We used most of the fresh water last weekend and it only happened that one time. Flushing the toilet, showers, washing dishes, and filling the ice maker.

Fixing your water issue

Fixing your water issue. What you are describing sounds to me like you’ve got an airlock issue, especially that you are experiencing it intermittently. Try this hack: once you experience this shortfall again open all of your valves in your RV including kitchen bathroom commode etc.. once you get all the air out of your lines you should be back in business. Also try to just fill The freshwater tank half full next time rather than 3/4.

I agree. I'm going to try and get all the air out of the system the next time I fill amd see if that alleviate the issue.
