Water Pressure Limit

After struggling for a couple of weeks with the non-adjustable water pressure regulator that came with our potable water hose we tried using the fresh water tank and 12v pump to get better water pressure and to see if the on-demand water heater would work better. Water pressure was much better and the water heater seemed to play well going that route. So I purchased an adjustable water pressure regulator. Question is, what is a good safe water pressure to use? I've heard some do 60 psi and some do 65 psi. I don't want to blow any water lines but do want good water pressure.

How old is your rig? Most new or recent RV water lines are PEX, which has a bursting PSI of @ 250 - which is a tad too high for most uses


We keep our adjustable water pressure regulator on 65 PSI and we have nice residential quality showers.


Also, for us, our Tankless Hot Water Heater has a recommended input of 65PSI so that is the limiting factor for us. I know some folks with a tank water heater have theirs set to 80PSI.


Anyway, you should be fine with 65PSI!


Oh, and make sure you remove all the flow rate restrictors from your faucets and showers

I experimented with 45 to 65 PSI settings, and settled on 55.

Ditto.

Pex isn't the problem when it comes to water pressure. It is all the other fixtures and fittings. I had a couple blow apart at 75 psi on one camper.

While we've changed the faucets and shower heads to better quality stuff, I'd have some concern at anything over 65 p.s.i. with the 10¢ plastic fixtures that come from the factory.
The plumbing will stand it OK... not so much the fixtures.
I even put 1/4 turn shut off's in the plumbing lines to the outside shower so it didn't constantly see the higher pressure, except when we want to use it.

My pex crimps were leaking at 70 psi at one campground. This was pre- regulator. Have a non adjustable one at 55 now and can't complain
