Water pump issue?

When I started my Spring opening procedure, the water pump wouldn't work although water pump switch was lit. Turned out the red power wire spade connector had separated from the pump. Couldn't make a real firm connection so I taped the connector to the pump and its worked OK over 4 trips - elec. and dry camping.
On our last trip (dry camping), it again separated so I taped it again and worked for balance of the trip.
Here's my question. DW was running water and I happened to check the battery monitor. The red lights flickered back and forth from 3 to 1 light. With pump shut off went back to the normal 3 lights (fully charged).
I'm now home on shore power (4 lights) and decided to run the pump and the monitor flickered back and forth from 4 to 3 lights.
Does this flickering sound normal? I guess I've never before checked the battery monitor while concurrently running the pump. Thanks and sorry for being long winded.

If the spade connector came off the lug on the pump and was simply "taped on" it most like was making an intermittent connection as the pump vibrated. This caused the current to vary and the change in the indicators. Most of the time you can carefully use a pliers to squeeze the two side grips and the connector will stay on properly. Do not over squeeze. If this still doesn't work, the spade connector is easy to replace.

Many thanks, Flybob, for the quick reply. I should have known better than thinking a tape job would do the job.

The pump will draw the battery indicator down while it is running and you aren't plugged into shore power. So does my phone charger when it is charging from the 12V outlet.

squeeze the female connector a little tighter so to click on. Just don't close it so it won't go on at all.
