Water pump issues

Just got home from a great Labor Day weekend camping trip on the rim in AZ. One problem though, my water pump didn't pump water through the faucets or the all important toilet while boondocking. Wife was not pleased. When I turned on the pump, the pump would push the water out of the city connection. Anyone have any idea why? We go camping all the time. Never had this problem. Our RV is about 2 years old. Rarely hooked up with full connections. We usually Boondock. We have a Salem T27TDSS 2016.

You may have an obstruction/junk in the inlet check valve letting it stay open so the pump pushes water to the easiest path. Try connecting a hose to the inlet, running water through to clear the line, disconnect and retry the pump.

Water pump issues

We are having the same problem with pur 2010 Cardinal 5th wheel. My husband isn't to machanical so I end up trying to fix things. When you talk about the inlet check valve where is it located.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

The city water check valve is just past the city water inlet fitting. It is a small spring loaded valve that only allows water to go into the unit and not flow out. Try connecting a FW hose and run water in ( faucet inside open) for a minute or so then close faucet and try again. You can get small check valve adapters that screw onto the city water inlet and will add the capability. Not a bad idea to carry one of these just in case you have an issue like you had.

Thank you Flynob! Just an fyi, I went out to the city water inlet o. The rv, looked inside and saw a small plastic plug, I pushed it a couple of times with my finger and it popped out further and seemed to seat. Then went inside the rv turned the pump on and it didn't shoot anymore water out! It seems to be fixed for now, but will definetly purchase the adapter. Thank you so much for your help!

Finally got a chance to look at this problem. I had to remove the city water connection on the trailer. The small clear plastic seal somehow broke loose from the pex line. This allowed a small gap that did not allow the check valve to engage. Reattached and it works fine now. You will know when it is attached correctly. It has a distinct snap to it. Hope that if anyone else has this problem this will help. Happy camping!!!!!
