Water pump question need help please!

We are connected to city water and have been for the last four years..so we have never filled fresh water holding tank.
So now when flushing commode the fresh water pump kicks on for a few seconds whenever flushing..why is this happening..confused!

Why is your pump even on if you are connected to city water?

no power to the pump and yet it comes on????

I will not laugh because I have seen a lot of strange things over the years.

The commode will flush from city water pressure when hooked to city water. Shut off all electrical power to camper at the breaker box, 12v and 110. Now flush the commode.... does the water pump still come on?

I'm not going to laugh either but this is one I've never heard of.

Does the pump "run" when you use water from any other faucet or only when you flush the toilet?

Now I'm laughing, because any minute now, someone is going to post "where is the back-up battery located?".

I think it's on the back of the TT by the backup lights, why else would they call it a backup battery?

The OP has an actual problem/question. Please help and don't sidetrack
the thread!

The only answer we can think of is the water pump switch is shorted
or miswired.

Try this-- Go to your city water spigot and shut off the water supply.
Turn on a faucet - does your pump run?
Flush the commode - does your pump run?
Please report results back here!

Be thankful. Some of us can't get our water pump to turn on.

If everything is unplugged and battery disconnected then the pump is not what you are hearing.

I know we are asking what may seem to be the same questions but this is so unusual it requires it.

Are you absolutely certain the pump is 'running' when you flush the toilet?
Could it be a similar type noise?
Has someone actually touched or verified with a meter/test light the pump is 'running when flushing the toilet?

When you say "Hubby uncooked all power as suggested and it still kicks on" you do realize the pump is powered by 12v so unplugging from shore power wouldn't kill the power to the pump. You would also have to throw the battery cut-off switch or unhook the cable from the on board battery to be sure there was no power to the pump.

Sorry, didn't mean to tick you off.

Ok, just a thought. Did you buy this unit new or used? If used maybe the previous owner made a mod by putting in a switch to turn on the water pump when the toilet was flushed. I would look around the toilet for any wires or a micro switch.

Find the water pump and cut a wire and see if you still hear it.

Listening and actually verifying the pump is running are different things.

Does the noise emanate from where the water pump is located or are you just speculating it sounds like the pump? Water flowing through a loose/vibrating pipe could be confused for a similar sound.

I think until someone actually verifies the pump is powering on (and running)
when flushing the toilet, we are all just guessing.

Then... there is no way the pump can be running.
