Water Softener Question

After spending some time in an area with hard water, I decided to buy a water softener for our unit. I bought The RV Pro 10000, which uses salt to regen the system. Today, I found out that water softeners using salt are banned in several states. I have tried to find out if the portable ones are included, but did not come up with anything. Please chime in, if you have any information on the legality of using a portable water softener for RV in states that have banned them for use in houses. Texas, California (certain districts), and others.

It would seem where banned, is about the salty water discharge. If you are short visiting I don't see a problem.
