Water tank fill problem

I have a 2021 Microlite Fbs 22 foot trailer.
This week I found my water tank won't fill pasr 1/3
mark and flows out the tank.
What caused this? Can I fix it myself?

Are you sure its not full? If you are relying on the gauge or indicator lights they are notoriously inaccurate. The best way to tell if it's full is visual or metered if the gauge is not accurate.

Fairly common that the vent hose from the tank has a slight dip in its routing at installation. Lots of press on this if you use "search" on the forum When tank fills and overflows that dip gets a slug of water in it that remains held in the lowspot. I have a piece of tubing that I place over that vent and blow through it moving that blockage back into the tank making the tank fill normally. Suppose you could disassemble and reroute the hose if you want to go the effort, this method works for me and takes about 30 seconds. Give it a shot. I have a shower handpiece hose that works perfectly for thisClick image for larger version

Use one of these to meter your water when filling.

Our freshwater tank is translucent so checking the level is very easy and accurate. Everyone's isn't? Yeah I have to open a cabinet. Or looked under the trailer on a previous camper.

Moved thread from the General Tech and Repair section to the Plumbing and Water Systems sub-forum since the OP's topic is specific to that sub-forum.

I am not sure it is full. The underbelly is sealed.
I was not aware that the sensors are so unreliable.
It has worked beautifully since I bought it.
Thank you I will investigate further

Compare what comes out to what it should hold:

Fill is until water squirts out the vent hole. Then grab an empty gallon milk jug and continue to fill the jug until the tank runs dry keeping a record of the gallons that come out or with a 5 gallon bucket at the outside shower so you don't have to count so high.

He left out drain tank and fill with meter, so you know how much water is in tank. Your sensor is most likely bad.

Nope. Stargirl has already fixed the problem and reported back.

Problem was water in a low-point in the vent tube, cleared by blowing into the vent.

Underbody is covered, won't be easy for her to re-route the vent tube.

Can anyone explain to me this blow air into breather trick? I have only filled up my water tank 1 time happened to be going on first camping trip boom dock camping 10 days. I filled up the trailer water at a gas station 14 hours from home it overflowed so I stopped and check the gauge said full but it continued to spill out under the trailer I had 1 hour drive to final camo spot when arriving I only had 2/3 water left ? I was told possibly it got into a siphon and drained off the water or possibly the breather house is mounted lower than top of tank? Wondering if this blow air into breather would help me out? Maybe dumb question but are you using a compressor? Pump? Mouth?

There is a flexible vent hose from the top of the tank to the water inlet.

The vent hose can sag so there's a low spot in the middle.

The low spot fills with water so air cannot escape the tank as water fills it.

Water backs up the filler neck while filling, giving the appearance that the tank is full. This is because air cannot escape through the vent hose.

Just holding a short scrap of garden hose against the vent and blowing hard will blast the low-spot water back into the tank, clearing the stoppage.

Simple enough?
