Agree, looks like the water pump inlet's strainer filter, a clear bowl with a wire mesh strainer inside the bowl.

Unscrew the clear plastic part, look for cracks in the plastic. If none, put plumbers grease on the rubber seal and reinstall. If it still leaks, buy a new one most anywhere for a few bucks. Sometimes you can find just the cover, but usually the whole assembly is available: https://www.amazon.com/SHURFLO-255-3...3&gad_source=1

Those things are prone to cracking over the winter as many don't address that bowl during winterization.

Yup, the black plastic portion was cracked. We had an unusually cold winter. I won't let that happen again. I ordered a new one for $10. Thanks to all for your input.

The cracking, which can be caused by freezing, can be minimized if not completely eliminated by using RV antifreeze for winterizing your rig, versus using air to blow the lines.

I live in Canada, and have never had winterizing problems by using RV antifreeze for winterizing, but it’s a personal choice.

I remove the strainer while winterizing. I clean it out and run the stainless steel screen through the dishwasher. Then reinstall it after I run the pink stuff through the lines. Make sure the rubber gasket is intact when you put it back on.

In these parts this is a common problem when folks use the blow out method if winterizing

Just blowing air through the city water connection is inadequate in my opinion

But that’s a subject for a different thread.

Since y'all keep bringing it up....
Either method can be inadequate if not done correctly. Done correctly, both methods can work just fine, no matter where you live.

I respectfully disagree

Blowing water out of the system by way of the city water connection doesn’t pass air through the pump or tank pickup lines. It leaves water that settles back into faucets and fittings or residual moisture in every piece of the system. I guess I would ask what is the proper way to do that?

Besides that the air only folks are the same ones who will be posting next spring that the check valve in their pump is bad and why did my faucet crack.

Do what you want but I have never had anything crack from freezing but I’ve talked to all sorts of folks who have using the air only method.

Isn’t it worth the 25 bucks worth of antifreeze? It can be an expensive way to save money

I would reiterate, subject for a different thread.
