it don't matter what I want, its what she picks since she is the one buying it.

bet trick is to let the black tank fill fully before draining it.

What TP are you using

Hi Folks. I installed a Bidet in our RV and this minimized usage of TP and helps reduced amount of back flushing and was very simple to install, along with cost is under $50 for Bidet and fittings. Plus a Bidet is more hygienic.

Look up the GEO Method. It will help clean the black tank. I believe that the Calgon water softener reduces the calcium buildup.

TP in the Trash

Putting the TP into a hanging trash bag was the norm when I was on my first trip to Honduras and passing through (no pun intended) before going out to work in remote areas. When I got back there on a subsequent deployment, the base newspaper was making a big deal out of the fact that TP could then be flushed. It was great!

My wife would never go with the trash idea for disposal and fortunately, we've had no problems.

Costco X however many. Using it for full timing into our ninth year. When we have sat for any length of time on departure we dump and flush one more time then add water to the black and dump at least 10# of ice down the toilet to scour it and then dump when arrive at the next port of call.

We have traveled in 12 countries and lived in the Netherlands in the 1990's. Yes I've seen toilets I wouldn't let my dog use, but this is 2021 and I have my opinions as to why you would put used TP in a waste can but I will keep them to myself for the time being.

You don't present it as an 'option', you tell her you're having a hard time getting tank clean, and that's the way it has to be. She says, 'ok then' and you've just headed off any potential future problems! Of course, my wife is used to being married to a Marine and takes direction well compared to a lot of women!

I outranked my husband by Time in Grade so he would never, ever try this reasoning on me. Besides, I do a better job with the dumping and cleaning than he does so it's one less thing for him to do while tearing down.

Hah Sharon! During sales pitch and salesman was showing us the dump equipment, she (wife) turned to me and said, "That's gonna be YOUR job!". She does inside preparing to cast off, I do outside.

The first year we used RV tp and still had false black tank sensor readings. Then i read a post about only putting bodily waste into tank. Gross! I thought. But how many people, including us, have put their infant's poopy disposable diapers and doggy waste bags into the trash? So I bought scented baby diaper garbage bags for our tissue waste & baby wipe waste (if needed), and told hubby how to wrap it all securely in a disinfecting wipe before putting it in the bag. Never a smell from it and the bag gets tossed every day. After leaving & dumping the tank, we put in a bucket of water. a bag of crushed ice, a squirt of dawn detergent and a capful of calgon water softener for the ride home. That scours any residue from the sensor and tank sides as the ice melts and sloshes around. It has worked very well for 5 years! Do a search on the forum for info.

What does that have to do with what we do in the confines of our R/Vs in this country? What comment on this R/V forum brought you to the conclusion I'd ever want to travel abroad?

I don't give a flip what happens in other countries or whether folks squat over an open hole or save it and build a house out of poop and used toilet paper. My comment was about what will not happen in OUR R/V right here in good ol' America.

Whatever dude. People like you make this place no fun.

And since the "stay on topic police" are here in force apparently, I'll say I use septic safe Cottonelle TP and it breaks very down well under I need to dump the next day. Seems to take about a day unless I'm driving shaking things up

Reading all this makes me smile. My previous trailer was used for over 22 years. TP was whatever we had in the house. TP went right into the tank with whatever else got flushed.

Tank was dumped whenever I felt like it, sometimes only after a few uses on a weekend, sometimes when it was full up into the drop tube.

Chemical was whatever I felt like buying at the time. Never had any "tank odor" other than whatever "perfume" the chemical manufacturer used. Tank had no built in flush but I did have a Camco "Wand" I used whenever I was hooked up and had a water hose to connect to it. No special attention to the black tank. Use it and dump it. No smells either.

Every once in a while I'd have a faulty reading on the gauge but the next time it was gone. Valves worked great every time.

Like I said, 22 years with no problems and none of the extreme measures mentioned in previous posts (and threads like this).

I'm with 5picker. People can freely do with their used TP whatever they want. Just not in my house.

Since Day One of our camping History, we have always done #2 in the Public Toilet at the Campground - our RV Toilet is for #1 only unless an Emergency. Kids always complied and now that they own RVs of their own, they have the same rule. DH & I are all alone now and we still take that walk to the Public Toilet when the need be!

TP that we use is Scott 8 pack that we buy at Walmart at the RV aisle in the store. So now you know it's more me than DH who uses - I LOVE IT!!

Brown goes down, Red goes in the trash can.

7 years never an issue use scotts 1000 . a few times i tried a different brand i believe conttonell and it piled up . A simple flush and all was good again . so paper can make a difference . I would never wipe my uknow what and put it in waste basket covered & scented or not . used to use the geo method but for the last year have just been buying 2.5 gallon of the cheapest liquid laundry soap i can find called sun poor a cup and a half down the toilet and it does the job of taking care of odors and keeps things clean 7 yrs of full time and sensors still good tank still clean . I think using ice is a joke . All it take is 5 or 10 gallons of water and the laundry soap and a day of driving to super clean tank .
