X2!
Or close gray a little while before dumping black, if we are staying a while.
We have 5 plus campers usually too!

why would anyone leave black open? You would end up with a "pile" in the bottom of your tank as there is no chemicals and water to break everything down.

I hold the grey water for the last day or so to have plenty to rinse hose after dumping black

Hook up hose once needed, and then dump black, kitchen, and bath. When not dumping all valves stay closed.

The grey tanks are another story. On short 2 or 3 day camping trips both grey tanks stay closed until ready to dump. When we're at one location for an extended period of time, as we were in Gulf Shores, I leave the shower tank open and the kitchen tank closed. When I dump the black water I follow that with a 15 minute black tank flush and then drain the kitchen tank.
X2

Because my galley valve is located under the living room slide I have installed a valve at the "Y" to allow me to keep the water in the tank. I have found that if you keep the gray water valve open you will get a smell from your vent pipe when a neighbour dumps their tanks. Plus by using chemical in your tanks and leaving the valves closed you help keep the seals lubricated.

Black and grey tanks remain closed until full, or time to pack up and leave.

Both grey and the black tank remain closed until they are showing about 3/4 and then opened. If we move first, always empty all of the tanks.

All valves closed until tanks are at least 2/3 full or we are ready to leave, then it's black tank first always, followed by a good black tank rinse, galley and lavatory. Most of the time the lavatory will need draining 2 to 1 or more over the galley because of the shower use. Just DW and I so it's pretty easy to keep under control.

Black closed. Gray open until the last night, then close it to flush the hose after the black tank is emptied.

I keep all valves closed at a "full hookup site" I do hook up the sewer hose and leave it for the whole stay. after 4-5 days iwill start the black tank flush then pull the black tank handle to drain and watch the see thru elbow for some cleaner water to drain ..then close the black valve..letting water run into the black tank for a couple of minutes...then shut the water off..next pull the galley tank...let it drain.. then close the valve...then finally the shower for the final rinse..and shut that valve

For those with black tank flush, what hose do you hook up to flush?

For short stays...all closed.

For extended stays...Black closed, 2 separate grays open.

Black and bathroom gray join at outflow valve. Black closed, gray open.

Kitchen gray not easily accessible with slide out so is opened and additional valve placed at Y. This added valve is open normally but is closed for black drainage after tank is irrigated with onboard system.

When closed, the grays fill in 2-3 days; the black about 3 weeks. I leave the grays open...too much of a hassle to drain that often.

There are ways around that:

I use a Y-connector at the outdoor water supply.

I run a common hose from one port to the black tank flush connector. This valve is closed until needed.

On the other port I have a Valterra Lead Free Adjustable Water Regulator. In the winter I attach a PIRIT heated water hose to this port to supply the RV. In the summer I use a separate white hose to supply the RV. I close this port, open the other port when I need to irrigate blank tank.

That is what I was wondering, I have never used tank flush with full hookup cause I did not want to attach my tank hose to fresh water faucet but the y is a great idea. I guess I should have 2 so I have a cleanish one at sites with shared water.
