Where does this part go?

Was blowing the dust out of my water heater compartment, a new Suburban SW6DEL when this little red rubber cap started flying around. Can't seem to find where it goes in there, any help? Thanks --

My guess would be a plug used by the WH manufacture to plug holes on the unit until they're installed into RV's. Protecting something from dirt and debris, like the gas valve assembly.

That was in the anode female hole of my 2020 Coachmen Apex hot water heater 2 weeks ago when we were at the dealer to do the demonstration. They pulled it with needle nose pliers and installed the anode rod in its place. It is a dust/insect/dirt plug installed into the hot water heater when new. You can keep it in case you would like to pull the anode rod for winter storage and allow the tank to vent any pressure around that plug.
