Winterizing

Getting ready to winterize my 282rk Salem Hemisphere. I would like to use a bicycle tire pump to clear the lines. Does anyone know what the attachment is called that connects the pump to my city water connection inlet? I need to know what to ask for at the store. I'm in Tennessee and winter's aren't too bad. Plan on using antifreeze in p traps, toilet only. TIA

Not sure a bicycle/tire pump has enough volume to adequately blow out the plumbing lines for winterization but may be so in your climate.

You will DEFINITELY get your exercise if you try to use a tire pump. The adapter you would want is a 3/4" garden hose male with a schrader valve.

Using a small compressor took quite a while to blow out the water on my 21FBRS. You may want to rethink your method. A small tire pressure inflator (12v that plugs into a cigarette lighter outlet) would likewise take a LONG time to clear your lines.

Regardless of which way you go, you'll need to make sure you get all the water out. Good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

Yeah you want about 40 psi blown through the lines, I don't think you'll be able to get that out of a bike pump.

Look up the "fit rv" on YouTube. He just did a video on using a tire pump. But his camper is a small winabago travago.

Yeah, saw it, liked it...that's where I decided. But maybe now no?

60 psi is 60 psi. But if you are pumping by hand it will get old quick. At 60psi on my home compressor it takes 15 to 20 ml of constant air pressure to make sure that all the lines are blown out.

It's not the pressure that blows out the lines but the volume of the air flow that pushes the water out and doesn't give the water time to flow back.

Plumbing is expensive to repair, why cheap out with preventing an expensive repair? Get a compressor. You will also be able to keep your tries properly inflated extending their life and saving you even more money.
