Winterizing hot water tank

Do you keep the plug out or so you screw it back in after water is drained? TIA

I put mine back in after draining and rinsing. Cuts down on rusted threads. Plus I don't have a pool of water when I connect city water.

I always replace.
No one has ever shown me a good reason to leave it out (or loose) and I don't have anything to remember come spring.

Reinstall with teflon tape the next day after tank has had a chance to dry out. That way, next season your ready to go as soon as you hook up the hose.
Also, reinstall to keep critters from building a nest in your hot water tank.
