2017 Isata 3 Tail Light Fix
After 3 days rain I started out of KOA in Milton WV and had a simultaneous tail light fail and no-start condition emerge on Isata 3. This morning (Day 2 inoperable I replaced a water damaged relay connected to the Hopkins PWC (pulse width controller) for the LED brakes and tail lights; then a 15A fuse under the driver’s seat. Viola! The lights now work.
Will pull the slide in and attempt to start Sprinter end momentarily and add an update to this post. Dynamax’s Brian Meeks advised that they know of no reason the 2 failures should be connected. Weird, but these two things happened simultaneously.
Here are pics below on the tail light repair. I inspected the Hopkins controller (strap tied to a cross member near the underside of the floor in the center of the vehicle just forward of the rear stabilizer jacks) to be certain it was not cracked or split. For the 15A fuse under the driver’s seat I removed the retaining screws for the factory fuse blocks to find the red wire / black fuse holder .
Whatever happened I’m glad the 15A fuse was there to make the catch.
