2017 Titan 12v all the time?

I know my truck is not nearly as popular as the big 3 but maybe someone
out there knows.... Does the 12v battery power at the trailer socket remain on with ignition off?
Just daydreaming over my morning coffee. It's cold out there in the driveway but I guess I'll have to get a meter eventually to find out.

My 04 Silverado needed a fuse plugged into the under hood fuse block when I first got it so the trailer battery connection was hot.
In that truck it was hot all the time. Key on or off didn't matter.

I know some/most? are only powered when the engine is running.
Just wondering what I've got...

Like you.... mines a 2014 GMC 2500HD...I'm not really sure either. Guess I'll be joining you out in the cold...Zero here right now and poking around with my meter to see what I have.
I'm impressed that the Diesel popped right off this morning without plugging in the heater.

Just FYI on the F150 you need a load on the trailer lights before the computer will turn on the charging circuit so it is not always and on or off thing with a fuse. I would check the Nissan forums to see if you don't want to get too cold.

KyDan: Perhaps the easiest way to find this answer is to own or purchase an affordable multi-meter, find some chart (probably all over the internet) showing your truck's wiring for the trailer connection then check the 12vDC (+) with your truck's ignition OFF and then ON. My '07 GMC Sierra had a fuse in the under-hood fuse box that had to be installed and then one wire connected under the hood. My '14 GMC Sierra 1500 had to have five (5) fuses installed in the under-hood fuse box in order for my 7-way Bargman plug to work. And--on the '14 GMC the 12vDC (+) is hot all the time. Right now it's a bit chilly down here in SW Ga.--32*

I do believe it is but have not tested it on mine, I always unplug it as to not drain my TV battery if leaving my camper hooked up. But again this is just me doing what I’ve always done without verifying.

You shouldn’t need to add a fuse, I didn’t.

It is normal for any 12v pins to be off when the ignition is off. It works like the accessory line inside the truck. BUT.... for a trailer plug on a Chevy Silverado, I think they do have a hot pin. Google Silverado plug wiring and you will get a bunch of references to the wiring. I can't access my notes and diagrams at present, the HDD they are on died a few days ago.

Not sure if this is protocol, by try here...

A little warmer in SE Georgia, 50.

That switch is for the inverter outlets, he’s talking about the trailer wiring.

Thanks for your replies.
FWIW I was an industrial maintenance dude for 37 years. You want meters, I've got meters!
Still hard to know the answer for sure. Maybe it's hot if I'm in the vicinity with my key fob and maybe it shuts off after some time.
Not a biggie but on a few rare occasions we have been known to dry camp and run the house batteries down. I've plugged in the truck to get just a little bit more so we can finish the movie on TV or some such...

Risky but we've not had to ask for a jump yet!

Until I find out otherwise I'm gonna assume it's only on when the truck is running. I will try and confirm it's working at some point though. I guess I can plug it in and start the truck and check my digital voltage display in the trailer. That should let me know if it's being boosted by the truck or not- At least to confirm it's hot when the engine is running.

The charge pin on my '14 GMC is always hot. My world class GM master technician son straightened out my misinformation... but, as some have said, not all technology is created equally. On some TVs you can't check output of the trailer brake circuit with no trailer attached. It's under warranty... take it back to the dealer. Oh, wait... that's what we tell owners of new RVs.
